The Young and the Restless Thursday, August 8 Recap: Kyle Speeds Up Custody Hearing – Adam’s Billy Block Backfires
The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Thursday, August 8, reveals that Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) will agree to step behind the curtain and become a silent partner at Abbott-Chancellor – at least for now. Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) will point out that people are going to have questions, especially Victor Newman (Eric Braeden).
However, Billy will think he can talk Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) into letting him go public with a vague story about her medical condition, which would give him a plausible reason to take a step back.
At Crimson Lights, Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) will admit to Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) and Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) that his OCD flared up last night, but he was able to use all the strategies he’d learned and roll with it.
While Connor is getting a brownie, Adam will assure Chelsea that they can handle this transition and hold her hand as they discuss taking it one day at a time.
Adam will also offer updates on Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) initially suffering alone on the anniversary of losing Ava Spectra, which will add to Adam’s list of things to feel guilty for.
Chelsea will admit she only talked to Billy on the phone briefly, but she’ll acknowledge that he’s still suspicious.
When Connor reappears, he’ll wonder who’s suspicious and quiz Chelsea about what’s going on.
Chelsea will cover by acting like she was talking about a problem with a client at work, so Connor will seem satisfied with her answer.
After Chelsea heads upstairs with a tired Connor, Billy will bump into Adam at the coffeehouse.
Adam will think it’s best to let Connor and Chelsea get settled in, so Billy will get annoyed over Adam trying to block him and will defer to Chelsea’s wishes instead.
Adam will stress the importance of avoiding another cross-examination since it’s the last thing Chelsea needs right now.
Billy will make it clear that Adam’s behavior is lighting up his concerns in neon, so he’ll vow to get to the bottom of what happened.
At the Abbott mansion, Claire Grace (Hayley Erin) will bring some chicken soup over for Harrison Abbott (Redding Munsell), who’ll be doing better following what his doctor suspects was food poisoning.
Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) will suggest it probably wouldn’t have happened if he’d stayed in town or been able to take Harrison to Paris like he wanted.
Summer Newman (Allison Lanier) will overhear that part and accuse Kyle of badmouthing her to anyone who’ll listen.
Furthermore, Summer will think it’s ridiculous to blame her for trying a new restaurant with Harrison when Kyle wanted to take him all the way to France.
Claire will get uncomfortable as Kyle and Summer face off again, so she’ll take the soup to Harrison with their approval.
Meanwhile, Kyle will argue with Summer and finally decide he’s done with all this.
After Kyle texts his lawyer about speeding up the custody hearing, he’ll express confidence in winning.
Summer will show confidence as well, but she’ll get on the phone with her attorney later and insist they need to be prepared.
Although Summer’s lawyer will feel like their case is in good shape, Summer will confess she’s scared.
Back with Kyle on Thursday’s Y&R episode, he’ll admit to Claire that the situation with Summer will likely get even worse in the coming weeks.
Kyle will talk about putting a rush on the custody hearing and urge Claire to keep doing what she’s doing – like preventing Harrison from hearing arguments and giving Kyle the stink eye when need be.
Claire will note that she’s never been married or in a serious relationship, but she’ll imagine Kyle and Summer didn’t start out hating each other.
Once Kyle acknowledges that’s true, Claire will suggest maybe he should try to remember that when the anger bubbles up.
The Young and the Restless spoilers say Summer and Kyle’s feud will come with some curveballs, so we’ll pass along more predictions on all the custody news and heated moments.
