Theresa is toast on Days of Our Lives. Her wedding blew up in her face pretty much the second Fiona entered and wasted no time in setting everyone right about Victor’s true heir. Alex is out and Xander is in.

But even worse, everyone now also knows that Theresa was working with Konstantin. She has betrayed half the town at this point — so it’s no wonder that she’s already packing her bags for a quick getaway.

Andrew, though, might have a thing or two to say about that But the point is, there’s just no way Theresa can stick around any longer, especially as, before the Writers’ Strike, this story was supposed to be much shorter before sending her packing again!

But now that Theresa’s finally leaving, it’s the perfect time for Gwen to make her return — maybe even in the same way Emily O’Brien switched them out before, with the airport swap! Plus, with Leo finally trying to turn his life around after Dimitri dumped him, it would be a great time for Gwen to return and have the two friends reconcile. Give or take a few messy fights, first.

Then there’s Abigail coming back (possibly), Xander and Sarah getting married (eventually) and Jack getting the paper back. Now would be a great time for Gwen to blow back into town and shake everyone up— maybe even with Dimitri’s money.

But she’s not the only one we could see returning. Because Alex has also lost everything. His inheritance, his company, his wife. Actually, we should say Xander’s inheritance and company. But at least he got his family back. That’s something, right?

But once that annulment goes through and Alex makes nice with his dad (his real one, Justin) we don’t see much reason for him to stick around anymore. He got a taste of money and power and Titan and now it’s about to be yanked away. So maybe it’s time to give Alex a rest, too, and switch him out for Robert Scott Wilson’s other character, Ben!

If we’re being honest, Alex has had a much tougher time gelling than Ben ever did — which is kind of disheartening seeing as how Wilson’s first character was a serial killer. But it would also be a great time to bring Ben and Ciara (whether with Victoria Konefal or someone else playing her) home.

The Hortons are going to be going through a major upheaval soon once Doug passes away. We know that Konefal will be back for his funeral, so a recast in the short term seems unlikely, but Ben could still head back to town ahead of her return. Maybe they’ve run into some problems and are taking a little break.

Ben could fly solo for a bit until Ciara comes to Salem and allow them to reconcile. Maybe he could then convince her stick around after their time at sea and settle into raising a family.
