The Hunt for Abby Brought A Major Mystery on the July 11 Days of Our Lives
Jack and Chad exhumed Abby’s grave only to find her coffin empty, which will lead to a major mystery. Plus, two villains teamed up!
Chad and Jack discovered an empty grave on the July 11 episode of Days of Our Lives. Now, they must figure out what happened to Abby. Plus, two villains meet face-to-face and form a deadly alliance!
Things Appear To Be Abby-Normal
Chad (Billy Flynn) and Jack (Matthew Ashford) were mostly shocked when the exhumed coffin of Abigail turned up empty. They smartly got police commissioner Rafe (Galen Gerring) and detective Jada (Elia Cantu) involved. Even Kayla (Mary Beth Evans), who had been the one to pronounce Abby dead, was confounded when she learned the news. Galen’s take is that Clyde (James Read) tampered with Abby’s body after she was buried, most likely to mess with the family. Forensics will no doubt be looking at all the fine details around the grave in order to determine whether or not her body was taken after the casket was buried or wasn’t there to begin with.
Meanwhile, Chad and Jack are concerned about the woman in the video clip they have, wondering if she is indeed Abigail. They will have to analyze the video deeply to determine where the room she’s in is located and when the video file was created. This looks like a job for Black Patch…at least once John (Drake Hogestyn) and Steve (Stephen Nichols) get their acts together. They’ll no doubt be able to get to the bottom of things and hopefully locate Abby alive!
Behold: The New League of Villains
Connie (Julie Dove) wasted no time going into Bobby’s (Blake Berris) room at Bayview (why she’s hanging out there, we’re not sure). She claimed she knew someone was in the park the night of Li’s murder and overheard her admitting to the crime, but she didn’t know who it was until she later overheard Bobby telling Jada that he knew who killed Li, and she connected the dots. Bobby felt that after helping solve Li’s murder, Jada would come running back to him. While Bobby hasn’t committed any crimes yet, as far as we know, he’s definitely got a malicious grin on his face often. Connie’s clearly a deranged killer, and it looked like she was gonna off Bobby…until he turned the tables on her and reminded her that there were security cameras everywhere, tracking her movements.
She explained that Bobby is just part of the job to Jada, stating, “And when the job is done, she’s going back to the boyfriend…the one with only one personality.” After Bobby said he’d take his chances trying to win Jada back, Connie asked, “What if there’s an easier solution for both of us?” When he asked what that was, she said, “You keep my name out of this, and I’ll take care of the commish.”
Now we’re biting our nails as a new league of villains is born in Salem!
Pop Culture Reference of the Day
Leo (Greg Rikaart) managed to get some therapy time in with Marlena (Deidre Hall), and when he admitted that he felt something was wrong with him after an encounter with a mysterious guy named Kerry (Derek Yates), he said, “It was like a scene out of Invasion of the Body Snatchers. God, I love that movie. Where alien spores from a distant planet make their way onto Earth’s surface, sprouting flower-like pods which are then mistaken for rare grex plants by Elizabeth Driscoll.” A shocked Marlena remarks, “I’ve seen it!” Then catches herself saying, “Wait, wait, wait. Let’s stay on topic.”
The Invasion of the Body Snatchers that Leo’s referencing is the 1978 remake of the classic 1956 sci-fi/horror film of the same name, starring Donald Sutherland as Matthew Bennell and Brooke Adams as Elizabeth Driscoll. In the film, the pods grow to duplicate humans and take over the planet as a collective consciousness. While Sutherland and Adams are the heroes, it’s a scary 1970s film, so a happy ending is not in the cards.
