General Hospital: Jonathan Jackson Dishes on Lucky’s Return and Future on the ABC Soap
Lucky’s New Journey with Jonathan Jackson’s Big Return to GH
General Hospital star Jonathan Jackson recently joined his old buddies Steve Burton (Jason) and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) on their podcast. They all chatted about his big return to Port Charles and even teased a bit about what lies ahead for Lucky.
Bradford brought up an interesting point about having Lulu and Nikolas out of the picture. He asked if Lucky would be Laura’s only family around. Jackson thinks it’s possible but admits, “I’ve got a lot to catch up on.” Dive in to catch the full tea!
Jonathan Teases Lucky’s New Chapter on GH
The General Hospital actor thinks his time away from the soap has given him a fresh perspective. Having said that, he can’t wait to blend the last decade of his life experiences into his role.
Additionally, Bradford highlighted that Lucky’s been gone so long that the character is a bit of a mystery now. For instance, nobody really knows what Lucky would or wouldn’t do anymore. Interestingly, this unlocks the doors to creative possibilities for Jackson and the writers.
Later, Jonathan was asked if his music might make its way into the storylines. Jackson was all for it, saying, “I would be open to it, for sure.” The GH stalwart also reminisced about his mentor, Anthony Geary, praising his lifelong learning attitude.
“He had the posture of a student. I want to have that posture,” he said. According to Jackson, he wants to return to the ABC soap as a student. He wants to learn things from all the people he works with.
Finally, he added, “I’m very thankful to Tony and Genie for kind of instilling that in me at a young age.” Meanwhile, Genie Francis (Laura), Jackson’s on-screen mom, couldn’t hide her excitement about his return.
She posted on X/Twitter, “Dear sweet Jonathan Jackson, this show is so lucky to have you back. I am overjoyed!” Genie can’t wait to work with him again! Earlier, the Lucky Spencer actor also shared his enthusiasm in a social media video.
He was “excited to see Genie Francis [Laura], obviously.” Furthermore, Francis wasn’t part of the cast when Jonathan returned to the show from 2009-2011. The duo last worked together briefly in 2015, making it their first long-term collaboration in over twenty-five years this time.
